Honoring Community
Community matters in our work more than we often give it credit for. Creativity thrives when we step out of our silos, share ideas openly, and learn from colleagues who are grappling with similar challenges.
Over the past year, during what was a particularly difficult period for many researchers, I organized small, in-person gatherings for clients to connect with peers they admire, want to collaborate with, or simply needed support from. These meetings created space to brainstorm, problem-solve, and remember that no one is doing this work alone.
What inspires me most is not just the connection itself, but what comes after. I love planning and executing these conversations, and even more, pushing for the follow-up and follow-through that turns good ideas into real progress. Inspiration is powerful, but impact comes from making sure nothing slips through the cracks.
At Lacuna Global, building community means creating momentum, accountability, and the structure needed to carry important work forward together.
Partner Profile: Meet Crystal Lewis
Each month this year, we aim to highlight a collaborator who we believe is doing something exciting or making a significant difference. Let’s kick it off with Crystal Lewis.
She is a consultant we connected with who works closely with teams on research data management. I deeply appreciate the way she thinks about organization and, like us at Lacuna Global, understands the inseparable connection between data and procedure and the importance of planning both thoughtfully from the very beginning. Crystal offers an incredible collection of free resources, and I encourage you to explore them and reach out to her if you are looking for tailored support in the data management space.
Coming Up Next Month
APHA Abstract Applications are currently open and due at the end of March. My clients have found this to be a valuable opportunity, and one worth putting some time and effort into.
NIH funding opportunities are shifting daily. Be sure to check in often and follow updates closely so you do not miss new or changing opportunities. Our friends at the Bouvier Grant Group are great about providing updates on this process.
