Embracing Summer
Shout out to all the parents and caregivers heading into summer with kids at home while still balancing work. It is truly a whole new world.
I’ve only had one summer of navigating this under my belt, and honestly, I still feel like I’m learning every day. The schedules shift, routines disappear, meetings happen alongside snack requests and background noise, and somehow we are all trying to make it work.
One thing I keep thinking about is how much support, grace, flexibility, and understanding I’ve been given throughout my career as a parent. That support has mattered more than I can fully express. It has made hard seasons feel manageable and reminded me that people do their best work when they feel trusted and supported as humans first.
I hope more workplaces, teams, and leaders continue building that kind of culture for parents and caregivers, especially during seasons like summer when the juggling act becomes even more intense. A little flexibility, patience, and understanding can go a very long way.
To the parents answering emails from the pool, working during nap time, adjusting schedules, tag-teaming childcare, or simply trying to hold it all together while making summer memories for your kids: I see you.
